Students completing the Certificate of Applied Science—Health Information Coding will acquire the skills necessary for entry-level jobs in medical settings. Graduates will be prepared to work in numerous medical settings such as physicians’ offices, clinics, hospitals, surgical centers, insurance companies, and consulting groups. Students will learn to function as members of a health care team, abstract information from documentation, assigning appropriate medical codes, creating claims to be paid, whether by commercial payer, or CMS.
