June 2023: Montana Cybersecurity Summer Initiative Camp
Learn how to defend yourself against identity theft, malware, and hackers
The Montana Cybersecurity Summer Initiative (CSI) camp is designed to introduce Montana
middle school and high school students to the world of Cybersecurity. We understand
that there are risks in the world; we lock our doors, are aware of our surroundings,
and avoid dangerous behaviors, like going out in the snow without a coat. But what
happens when you don't know the risks? What happens when you are engaged in dangerous
behavior online and you don't even know it?
Every time you log onto a computer or smartphone you can easily be a target of identity theft or ransomware. Cyber criminals attack everyone and the only way to protect yourself is to be aware of the risks you take when you are online. Learn how to protect yourself and others from these criminals!
Through games and other hands-on activities, our week-long, day camp will introduce you to Windows and the Linux systems. You'll learn about how networks work, file management and how to ward off criminals! We'll discuss cyber-hygiene and security techniques used by the top companies in the world. And we'll even have a competition at the end to see how well you can use these skills to keep yourself safe! Even if you have no knowledge about computers, it's a great way to learn new skills and techniques.
